Downtown Truckee
A mountain town that grew with the railroad and lumber industries, Truckee’s raucous history of poker parlours and gunfights still permeate many of the historic buildings with Old West charm. Truckee is now the central gateway to the North Shore. It’s also where you might see Paul McCartney in a free-form jam at a local restaurant, find yourself seated next to an Olympic skier at a pub, or browsing through shops where Charlie Chaplin once performed. Old Downtown Truckee boasts many shopping, dining and entertainment venues, yet remains steadfastly independent minded.
